Peyton J. Harrison's Bio




Peyton Cheryl Farlow Johnson Harrison was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. She grew up in a household which consisted of her mother, her grandmother and her older brother. As a child, Peyton enjoyed reading books, writing short stories and poetry. She attended both public and parochial schools in New Jersey. She graduated from Benedictine Academy, an all-girls catholic high school with aspirations of becoming an actress and singer. Upon entering college, she declared herself a voice major but soon became disillusioned with the music department. She then decided to major in the field of Psychology. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Spelman College. Since college, Peyton has worked in the field of Human Services, Higher Education and currently the field of Public Health. She moved to the Albany area in 1990 and started a book club in 1993 (The African-American Literature Club 1993-1996) which met monthly to discuss books written by African-American authors. Peyton joined Sweet Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in 2002 and was baptized in February 2003. She has served as the women’s ministry president since 2005. In 2005, she wrote her first play, a series of monologues entitled: “For Church Girls: Do You Know Who Your Real Daddy Is”? Her most recent production “No Earthly Good” was written and conceived in 2009and performed on April 29, 2010. Its original title was “Are You Superhero Christian”? based upon a sermon she heard by Reverend Joyce Meyer. Her most recent play that she will soon be casting is, “Does Your House Have Lions” and she is currently writing a sequel to this play titled, “So You Call Yourself a Man of God”? Prior to writing “No Earthly Good”, Ms. Harrison wrote a book titled, “Nothing in Life is an Accident; Everything You Do and Everyone You Meet is Predestined by God”. Ms. Harrison hopes to self-publish this book in 2011. In January of 2011, she started a blog for her production company Peyton J. Harrison Productions.
